"Exploring the Tangy and Sweet Flavors of Carolina Mustard BBQ Sauce"

Carolina mustard barbecue sauce, also known as South Carolina mustard sauce, is a tangy and flavorful sauce that is great for grilling and dipping. Here's a simple recipe for making Carolina mustard barbecue sauce:




Ingredients:


1 cup yellow mustard

1/2 cup apple cider vinegar

1/3 cup honey

1/4 cup ketchup

1 tablespoon brown sugar

2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon hot sauce (adjust to taste)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)

Salt to taste


Instructions:


1. In a medium saucepan, combine the yellow mustard, apple cider vinegar, honey, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.


2. Whisk the ingredients together until well combined.


3. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring occasionally.


4. Once the sauce begins to simmer, reduce the heat to low and let it cook for about 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, to allow the flavors to meld together.


5. Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning as needed, adding salt, additional hot sauce, or other seasonings to achieve the desired flavor.


6. Once the sauce is ready, remove it from the heat and let it cool to room temperature.


7. Transfer the sauce to a jar or airtight container and refrigerate it until ready to use. The flavors will continue to develop as the sauce sits, so it's even better if made a day ahead.
